The Porterville Strings Summer Camp at Harmony Magnet Academy welcomed 65 students for a week of hands-on music learning, offering instruction in violin, viola, cello, double bass, and piano. With a renewed focus on relaunching the program, founding director Rodelyn Lipumano-Smith and her team—many of them former students—are reigniting the organization’s mission to make music education accessible, exciting, and enduring for Porterville youth.

The Monache High School softball team delivered a dramatic 3-2 walk-off win over powerhouse Long Beach Poly in Tuesday’s Division 2 state playoff matchup. Down to their final out, the Marauders rallied in the seventh inning, capped by Aaliyah Mendoza’s game-winning single, to advance to the regional semifinals against top-seeded Christian High in El Cajon.

Harmony Magnet Academy’s 2025 graduation brought joy and reflection to the Buck Shaffer Theater on Friday night, as 10 valedictorians and Principal Jeff Brown delivered heartfelt messages celebrating resilience, memories, and the supportive spirit of the Harmony community. With cheers, music, and laughter, the evening marked a meaningful send-off into a bright future.

Monache High's 4x800 relay team shattered records and earned a spot on the podium at the CIF State Track Championships, clocking the fastest Central Section time of the year and the 45th fastest in the nation. Meanwhile, Porterville High’s Kian Rangel capped off a standout season with a top-10 state finish in shot put.

With cheers, noisemakers, and heartfelt speeches, the Granite Hills High School Class of 2025 celebrated a powerful night of reflection and triumph. Principal Jacob Bowker and student speakers honored the graduates' perseverance, family sacrifices, and hopes for the future, sending them off with pride, gratitude, and inspiration.

Citrus High School’s Class of 2025 walked proudly through the courtyard Thursday evening to the sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance,” greeted by applause and joyful tears. Principal Apolinar Marroquin, speaking in English and Spanish, honored graduates, families, and staff, calling them real-life superheroes. Students were individually recognized with personal messages, while several received special scholarships, including honors from the Tule River Tribal Council. With tassels turned and Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration” ringing out, the night ended in hugs, photos, and heartfelt pride.
